Young Carers Day New Zealand

Phil Pacey Organised our young carers day and found a great flyable day at the start of winter in the southern hemisphere

Fifteen young carers took to the skies over Auckland in May 2018 with Phil Pacey in his Cessna, as part of a worldwide Rotary E Club of Aviation event. Flying them over Rangitoto, Sky City, One Tree Hill, and Waiheke, Phil says he donated his time, aircraft and expertise to show his support for young carers of elderly, ill, or disabled loved ones.

Carers NZ coordinated the youngsters on the four flights that day, and even the weather came through! We were very fortunate, with clear skies and stable conditions.

Some of the feedback received:

‘Thank you so much for organising the flights on Sunday. Quinn had such an amazing time, he hasn't stopped smiling!’

From the Grow A Heart For Jeannette Facebook page: ‘I can't thank you enough to #CarerNZ for the opportunity… It's nearly 2 years that I heavily depend on my family for everything. My siblings give me something to smile about, to laugh with, to have companion with, to cry with, to be hug, to be love, to learn from and many more. To all the sponsors especially Rotary E-Club International who make this event possible thank you from the bottom of my heart. A special thank you to pilot Phil for the awesome time in the air with my siblings and there demands. Its not easy to manage 5 demons but you make it look easy.’

‘Thank you Phil for this amazing opportunity. Jordyn Wallace thoroughly enjoyed her experience’
